At Red Balloon Worthing, the safety and wellbeing of every learner is our highest priority. We know that for young people to feel ready to learn and thrive, they must first feel safe, seen, and supported. We take this responsibility very seriously.
A Safe and Supportive Space
We provide a nurturing environment where learners feel they can be themselves without fear of harm, judgement, or pressure. Our approach to safeguarding is proactive, preventative, and rooted in kindness. We make sure that learners know who they can turn to and that they feel confident speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.
Who’s Responsible?
All staff at Red Balloon Worthing are trained in safeguarding and understand the importance of early intervention and listening to the learner’s voice. We have a clear safeguarding structure:
- Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Kim Anderson – Head of Centre
- Deputy DSLs: Lucy Jackson, Laura Frost, Sabrina Toone (staff names shown as placeholders)
These staff members are your main points of contact for any safeguarding concerns.
Working with Families
We know that parents and carers are key partners in keeping children safe. That’s why we:
- Keep open, honest communication with families
- Let you know when concerns are raised (where appropriate)
- Offer support or referrals if you need help at home
- Work closely with external professionals when necessary
We’ll always do our best to involve you, listen to your views, and act in the best interests of your child.
