SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)

At Red Balloon Worthing, we believe that every learner deserves to be understood, supported and celebrated. We are proud to offer a nurturing, personalised environment for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to thrive both emotionally and academically.

Tailored Support for Every Individual

We recognise that no two learners are the same. That’s why we take the time to get to know each young person — their strengths, their challenges, and what helps them to succeed.

Some of our learners have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), while others may need temporary or longer-term support with things like:

  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Anxiety or mental health needs
  • Dyslexia or other specific learning difficulties
  • Speech, language and communication needs
  • Sensory processing differences

What We Offer

Individual learning plans designed around each learner’s needs and interests
Small class sizes with a calm, flexible pace
Therapeutic support from trained staff and visiting professionals
Wellbeing activities, life skills and emotional regulation
Close communication with families and outside agencies
A key adult who checks in regularly and helps each learner feel safe and understood

Working Together

We work in close partnership with families, carers, local authorities, and external professionals to make sure every learner’s voice is heard and their support is consistent both in and out of the classroom.

Our SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator) oversees the planning, monitoring and delivery of support for learners with SEND. If your child has an EHCP, we will ensure regular reviews and updates are in place. Every young person has their own Individual Education Plan which is linked to their targets in their EHCP, but also highlights their strenths and areas for development.
